Staff Member Tests Positive for COVID-19 at Wichita Work Release Facility

Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) Secretary Jeff Zmuda announced today that one staff member working at the Wichita Work Release Facility (WWRF) tested positive for COVID-19. A resident first tested positive on April 12 at WWRF. There are seven KDOC facilities with a confirmed case including Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF), WWRF, Topeka Correctional Facility, Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex, El Dorado Correctional Facility, Ellsworth Correctional Facility and Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

When Glendale was released from prison, he was quickly swept up by old habits and old acquaintances. He started using drugs again and ended up in jail for 30 days. When he released, his first call was to Jera Thompson, KDOC job specialist, who worked with him during his time at HCF. Jera was able to quickly connect him with community resources that could help steer him in the right direction.
